Okay, I’ll admit it. Every once in a while, I get sucked into wanting to try the latest beauty trend that everyone is raving about. I have my skincare and makeup products pretty much locked down with Beautycounter. That being said, I was intrigued enough by the concept of these products, that I decided to give them a go. All three either supplemented or worked well with my existing routine, and I was pleasantly surprised with the results.
Satin/Silk Pillowcase
Hyped Benefits: Satin doesn’t absorb moisture away from your skin, skin and hair glide smoothly on the surface as you move in your sleep.
For all my fellow curlfriends out there, this is a must. I don’t know what took me so long to adopt this, but needless to say, it was way too long. I used to follow the pineapple method (there are plenty of youtube videos on this, if you’re curious), then I tried a buff, and ultimately, I gave up on them both. This pillowcase doesn’t require any extra steps in my nightly routine and my curls are more intact and less frizzy in the morning.
Jade Roller
Hyped Benefits: Assists with absorption of lotions/oils, lymphatic drainage, increases circulation, reduces under-eye darkness and puffiness
My husband walked in on me using this on my face and gave me one of those what are you doing looks. I tried to explain it to him and his skepticism only increased. I asked if he wanted to try it, and he said he’d give it a go, as long as it didn’t involve any “weird products.” Here’s where I get to the testimonial – two days later, he sheepishly asked me if I could massage his face with it again because it felt so good the other day! Now he suckers me into it every few nights.
Single Blade Face Razor
Hyped Benefits: Hair removal, exfoliation
Yes, I crossed the rubicon and shaved my face. It took some courage, and I certainly had ALL of the concerns you have and more. But, I’m officially converted. I use Beautycounter’s No. 1 Brightening Facial Oil – 5 or 6 drops is enough to make the razor glide easily. Here are the benefits I noticed:
1) My skin just feels sooooo nice
2) No more painful trips to get brow and lip threading done
3) Makeup looks way better without all of the baby hairs.
If you’re wondering about frequency, twice a week works just fine and I can skate by on once a week if I’m feeling particularly lazy. Also, having a bit of a perma-tan helps. Thank you, Florida sun!
